Reflection
Fix the environment
“When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower. “ Alexander Den Heijer
Are you a flower? Are you blooming? How is your environment nurturing you or starving you?
Say NO
I listened to the podcast where Rich Roll interviewing Chris Burkard. Chris has done some amazing and extraordinary things like record setting of cyclotron through Iceland. One of his sharings struck me: “say NO so that you can say YES to the things you want!” For those of you (myself included), next time when you don’t know how to say NO, think about the things you wanted in life!
Energy Attracts Energy
Who are you spending your time with?
What’s their energy level?
Do you feel happy or drained after your encountering with them?
You life is determined by the 5 people your spend the most time with. Look at who your friends are.
Play
“You’ll simplify your life and feel inspired if you learn to play rather than work your way through life - so play, play, play!“
How hard are you working on your career, your relationship, your exercise and your life? What does it look like if you just play through it? Will you be where you are now? Will it give you more satisfaction or less?
Our spice-box
"There is no single face in nature, because every eye that looks upon it, sees it from its own angle. So every man’s spice-box seasons his own food."
-- Zora Neale Hurston, Dust Tracks on a Road
What are in your spice-box? What filters do you use when you look at nature or the things in the nature?
Filters
What filters do you use to look at the world? It doesn’t matter how you formed those filters, because they are already formed. The good news is that they can be changed if you wish. The real question is how you current filters are serving you? Are they making you happy and excited or angry and upset? Watch this video if you wish to change your filters and re-train your brain.
Possibilities
“Every moment of our existence holds an infinite number of possibilities.” How true is it to you? How many times when you are sad or angry and you think there is NO WAY? If you truly believe this is true, what might change in your life?
Do It Yourself
I turned in my tax returns 2 days before the deadline. I felt relieved after it’s done. It made me think why i chose to do it myself. I have been doing my taxes forever. It seems to be an easy task with the assistance of tax software. It demonstrated that i am capable. However, i had to purchase the software…and waited for discount to order it. Then i had to download and install it. Next i collected all the tax documents and entered the numbers into the software. I then let it sit for 3 months until 2 days prior to the deadline. I picked it up again and completed. I probably spent a full day total filling the taxes. I could have just simply prepared all the documents and sent them to a professional accountant who can complete it in way less time and more accurate because (s)he is the expert. I thought i could save $, but i spent a full day which is way more costly than hiring a professional. Time is my commodity.
Independence
What does independence mean to you?
Does it mean thinking independently? Acting independently? Living independently? Having independent personal finance?
How much do you care about what other people might say or think about you? How much will that change what you think, say or do?
How much do you value others’ opinion? Or their contribution to a cause that you care about?
How well are you balancing between independence, teamwork and community?
Happy 4th of July!
Networking
When you go to a networking evert, what’s the first thing do you do? Do you scan the room and look for people you might know? Do you search for people who might be in your similar demographic? If you are young, what does it feel if you step into a room full of people much older than you? If you are a women, what does it feel if you enter a big meeting room full of men? What’s your purpose for a networking event? What’s your feeling? What’s your goal? What’s the end result?
What if you going into a networking event with curiosity? What if you have a goal of learning from everyone you encounter? What if you have passion to share your knowledge with anyone you meet? What would be the end result?
